Westfield’s CRIME FREE MULTI HOUSING PROGRAM.  This is a 3-stage program designed to work with owners and managers of rental properties. 

Stage 1: 8-hour class held at the Westfield Police Department.  This class is an educational class with guest speakers discussing screening potential tenants, lease agreements, housing court issues and eviction process.  A certificate is received upon completion of this class.

Stage 2: This is a survey of the rental property C.P.T.E.D. Crime Prevention through Environmental Design.  There are certain requirements that the program requires.  Upon completion of this program you will receive another certificate.

Stage 3: This is a social event sponsored by the owner/manager on the rental property which involves the renters and their community policing officer.  This is required once a year.  This is designed to keep contact with the residents, managers, owners and the police department.  Upon completion of the social event you will receive a 3^rd certificate.  Once all 3 certificates are achieved this gives the owner:

   Westfield ’s Crime Free Multi Housing signs to post on the property

 Access to certain portions of our website which assist in the screening process

 Their property advertised on our web site as part of our program

 On our mailing list for legal updates and education

You will receive a copy of all calls for service from the police department
